IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE COVID-19 VIRUS (CORONA VIRUS)

Harwich Angling Club Annual General Meeting for 2019/2020

In view of the current situation regarding the Coronavirus pandemic your committee have no choice but to cancel the proposed 2019/2020 AGM. The current committee have agreed to continue running the club for another year and will make every effort to keep you informed of any changes in the situation.

Your committee fully endorse the following Statement from Angling Trust

We must all do what is required of us by the Government and work together to fight this pandemic. Therefore until further notice we should all refrain from fishing. This is about saving lives and supporting the NHS.

In regards to the current restrictions announced by the Government on Monday 23 March 2020 it is clear that the only permitted activities that have been specified are walking, running and cycling for the purpose of local daily exercise. Today we have written to the Sports Minister highlighting the benefits to both physical health and mental wellbeing that angling provides and that we are ready and prepared to offer whatever support the government or Sport England require now or in the future to get people back fishing as soon as is safely possible. We will post updates for all anglers on our dedicated support pages.

HEALTH & SAFETY

A committee member stabbed his finger on a thorn during the November Work Party, it turned septic and needed medical attenion, the committee advise wearing gloves on working parties. If you cut yourself on a working party or while fishing you should wash the wound with clean water (best to keep a bottle in the car) and then cover the wound with a plaster (keep some in your tackle box). Then thoroughly clean it when you return home.

Marc Snelling caught this 1lb 4oz Crucian Carp from the 1st peg as you turn right from car park (towards pipe swim) with new platform, just in front about 5metres out. On casters over ground bait, on a margin pole. Lots of people have been asking if there are any crucians in Bradfield still and I caught one today so thought I would send you the picture to put on the site. It’s a true crucian, fits all the criteria on the crucian society list and matched scale count. Marc also caught a mixed bag of perch, roach, skimmer bream and a few rudd to about 7 lb total. Didn’t bother weighing the net of fish. .
