HARWICH ANGLING CLUB IS SITUATED IN THE NORTH EASTERN CORNER OF ESSEX

We have the fishing rights on a 3.5 acre mixed fishery farm reservoir in the village of Bradfield.

The reservoir is used for irrigation on the farm and the club does not have any control over the amount of water extracted.

LOCKDOWN 3 INFORMATION

The good news is The Angling Trust, after restating the mental and other benefits of angling, has been informed by the Government that Angling will now be permitted under the 3rd COVID-19 Lockdown rules. Please read the details on the Angling Trust website, link below.

The Committee has therefore re-opened the lake, based on the new Government rules, which include only visiting local angling venues and no night fishing.
Please follow the rules on the LATEST COVID RULES page.

BRADFIELD LAKE INORMATION

We will start with the good news, the lake is now full of water, with good catches being reported, and so with that, we can lift the ban on keepnets.
As well as the Environment Agency putting 800 Roach & Bream in the lake in February, they put 1000 Tench in the lake on the 1st December 2020. So, we can look forward to some super mixed fishing in the future.
Work Parties will be advised to members by email and on the website when required. And, unlike some fishing clubs, these are voluntary but we would request that members make every effort to attend one or more of the work parties. In the past it has been the Committee and occasionally only one or two members who attend. Many hands make light work and it is good exercise.
We are committed to looking for a 2nd water and are currently exploring a couple of options as well as maintaining Bradfield lake to a high standard for your pleasure.

EA delivery 1000 small Tench to the lake on
11th December 2020

Tench Delivery 1 Dec 2020 Tench Delivery 2 Dec 2020 Tench Delivery 3 Dec 2020 Tench Delivery 5 Dec 2020

If you move down the bank to fish be careful some areas of the lake bed are very soft and slippery.

Only BARBLESS HOOKS are allowed at Bradfild Lake, Rule 37
Please take your litter home.

The club are looking to added an extra water to replace Dock River, if any member knows of another water in the area that may be available please contact the Chairman, Harold Griffiths, on 07786 512144.

CCTV AT BRADFIELD LAKE

Recently a committee member challenged two people at Bradfield Lake at 10pm, they said they had come to look at the lake with a view to joining the club, as it was dark by then this did not seem likely.
The club has installed CCTV a camera overlooking the car park and committee members will be visiting the lake in the evenings. gallery_images/cctv camera3

YOUTH MEMBERSHIP

A decision was taken at the AGM to extend the Youth Membership from 12 to 16 year olds to 12 up to 19 years of age.

HEALTH & SAFETY

A committee member stabbed his finger on a thorn during the November Work Party, it turned septic and needed medical attenion, the committee advise wearing gloves on working parties. If you cut yourself on a working party or while fishing you should wash the wound with clean water (best to keep a bottle in the car) and then cover the wound with a plaster (keep some in your tackle box). Then thoroughly clean it when you return home.
